Let's(Runaway) Go To Disneyland

-I was five maybe six. I had a nintendo at the time that my parents would let me play when I got all my chores done. The highlight of the day, to get to lay on the living room floor, belly down, feet up in the air with no care in the world but trying to get to the end of ninja turtles. Oh the hours spent tryin to get to that end boss. To have mom or dad yell, ok it's time to go to bed, what? No, I just started playing, even though 6 hours had gone by in the blink of an eye and I've only restarted the game 50 times due to a glitch causing me to die,
One more try, mom,
One more life dad,
No, it's time for bed.
Ugh, ok.....but wait, maybe I can leave the game on, shit the tv off and hide the light on the console so dad can't tell it's on,
Because he's always saying
It's a waste of electricity to leave it on over night, bit he doesn't understand the countless hours of dedication to get to this point.
But he won't know this time. He's too tired from work to check.

I wake up the next day, Saturday morning ready to get my bowl of cereal and got the couch to continue the quest of getting to that last boss. I get to the tv, turn it on, go to grab the controller and lone behold, no light on the console,
No, it must be a mistake, no......
Dad comes into the room and exclaims I am grounded for a week from the nintendo for wasting electricity once again.
No, no.
All that progress.
I was devastated
What's a boy to do,
how could his father betray him so.
What would help ease the pain of boredom....
(Thoughts of a 5 years old)
I can't be bored for a whole week with no nintendo. There's nothing else to do.
I've always heard disneyland was nice.....
There's a train that comes by close.......
Hey Andrew(my friend at the time and neighbor)
Let's go to Disneyland.....
Let's runaway.......
..........
Ok.

We get to the train tracks and the train is going by. It's going by slow and is. Slow enough to be jumped on. So I go first,
I jump onto a flatbed trailer and wait for Andrew to jump on, but he's not on, he's still back where we started.....he must of not been able to get on so I jump back off.
I walk over to him and he says he couldn't do it, he could run fast enough, I have the notion he got scared, which looking back, is perfectly understandable so I shrugged it off and asked.
Ok where we going now?
We look around,
We see the Mormon temple which you could pretty much see from all parts of the city and decided we would make our way there.
Why,
IDK to be honest, maybe due to it being the highest point in the city.
So we headed off.
Part of me thought that after the train we would of went home as we had no real plan but we both kept trekking on. Not really knowing why or what the real motivation behind our adventure was.
Hours passed and we finally reached the temple.
Did we feel accomplished?
No, more like it was too easy, like we thought it was farther or something.
By this time it must of been 3-4pm and we where beat from the walk and hungry but being that we where kids, we didn't have any money. IDK or remember exactly who came up with the idea, but we started cleaning people windows on they're cars for tips at a gas station and an elder lady took pitty on us and said we must be some good kids willing to help people out so she gave us a 20$ so we bought snacks and soda and ate.
At this time from the walk we where sweaty and decided to take a dip in a fountain that was in from of a gym. Now being all wet and soaked from head to toe it it being 6-7pm we where chilly, starting to get cold when a girl comes out the gym and see us and asks us why we where all wet. We explained that we where hot from walking all day and she went inside and got us some dry clothes.
She ended up bringing out clothes from the gym which where way too big for us but we where happy and went on our way and thanked her.
Now it started to get dark and we needed to figure out what to do, I looked at Andrew and said
"Well I guess we should go home huh"
And he agreed.
So we started trying to think on how to get home.....
when a police car started driving by, we crossed the street and waved him down.
He pulls up and asks us
"What are your two names"
We respond
"Andrew and Nevada"
He says
I was on my was to the News station about you two, get in.
And he gives us a ride home.
